About Our Piano Program

From first notes to confident playing.

Piano is SYNERGY's largest and most established program β€” and for good reason. Our teachers bring deep experience, genuine passion, and a curriculum refined over 30 years to every single lesson.

Whether your child is picking up the keys for the first time, you're an adult returning to something you always wanted to try, or you're preparing for RCM exams β€” we have the right program, the right teacher, and the right approach for you.

Our most popular option, Piano + Theory, pairs a 30-minute private piano lesson with a 30-minute group theory class before or after it for an additional $12. Dedicated written theory time leaves more of the private lesson for piano playing.

Music Theory

Music theory, available β€” not an afterthought.

Add a dedicated 30-minute group theory class before or after your private piano lesson for $12 per week. Students work on written theory separately, freeing up more of their private lesson for piano playing.

Students taking private lessons without the add-on still work on written theory within their lesson. The separate class provides more time to develop these skills, whether students are learning the basics or working toward RCM requirements.

Common Questions

Piano lesson FAQs.

What age can my child start piano lessons? +

We welcome students from age 5 through our early beginners program using the Music for Little Mozarts curriculum. Every child develops differently β€” feel free to call us and we'll help you decide if the timing is right.

What's the difference between private lessons and Piano + Theory? +

Private lessons combine individual piano instruction with some written theory. Our most popular option, Piano + Theory, pairs a 30-minute private lesson with a separate 30-minute group theory class before or after it. This gives students more time for piano playing during their private lesson and dedicated time for written theory. The weekly cost is $45.50 ($33.50 private lesson + $12 group theory).

Do you prepare students for RCM exams? +

Yes β€” RCM exam preparation is one of our core strengths. Our teachers are highly experienced in the RCM curriculum and offer preparation from Preparatory level through ARCT. All exam components are covered: repertoire, technique, ear training, sight-reading, theory, and mock exams.

What if I just want to play for fun, without exams or recitals? +

Absolutely fine β€” in fact it's one of our favourite types of student. Our just-for-fun program is designed for exactly this: no exams, no recitals, just the music you love. Our teachers will work with you to build a program around your specific interests, whether that's classical, jazz, pop, film music, or anything else.

Do you offer online piano lessons? +

Yes β€” online lessons are available for piano students across Ontario and beyond. The quality of instruction is the same whether you're in our Brampton studio or joining from home. Theory classes are also available online.

What is your trial lesson program? +

Our trial program runs for 4 weeks, with one 30-minute lesson each week β€” enough time to meet your teacher, settle into a routine, and get a real sense of whether the program is the right fit. The private practical trial is $120. A trial with an additional 30-minute group theory class each week is $168. There's no commitment or contract required. After the trial, you're welcome to continue or simply move on β€” no pressure either way.
